The Lead Told Us. We Called Anyway.
We recently looked back at a lead who booked a call with us, no-showed, booked again two months later, and turned out to have no budget. When we pulled his original form answers, he had picked "No, still setting up" on our qualifying question. The form did its job. Nothing after the form used the answer.
So we counted. Out of 120 leads on that form, 44 (37%) picked the not-ready answer. Every one of them went into the same AI calls, setter calls and booking reminders as the leads who said yes.
Step 1: Ask One Question That Sorts People
One good multiple-choice question beats five vague ones, because every extra field cuts how many people finish. The question should split buyers from browsers in a way people answer honestly. Examples:
- "Are you in a position to take on a marketing partner?" Yes, we have proven sales / No, still setting up.
- "How much can you put toward ads each month?" Under $1,000 / $1,000 to $3,000 / Over $3,000.
- "When do you need this done?" This week / This month / Just researching.
Meta also offers a "Higher intent" form type that adds a review screen before people submit. It usually brings fewer leads that are more deliberate. Test it against your current form on cost per booked call, not cost per lead.
Step 2: Route on the Answer
In your CRM workflow, add an if/else step right after the form trigger. If the answer is the not-ready one, tag the lead, send them a lower-priced offer or a nurture sequence, and end the workflow there. No sales calls, no booking texts. Everyone else goes into your normal call-and-book sequence.
Step 3: Don't Throw the Not-Ready Leads Away
"Not ready" doesn't mean never. Those people raised their hand for a reason. A low-priced starter offer, a training or a monthly check-in keeps them warm until their business is ready, and costs your sales team nothing. Some of them will come back as buyers later.
The workflow steps for if/else routing are in the KenjiAI help center. For what these leads cost in the first place, see Facebook lead ads cost benchmarks for 2026. If you're not sure whether your own business is ready for paid ads, the growth quiz takes two minutes.
